Default 2005 Blazer with 4x4 problems

OK... the condensed version. Vehicle won't shift into 4hi. If I stop the vehicle & put into neutral, I hit 4hi, it'll flash 4hi & 4lo simultaneously then go back into 2hi. But lo & behold... Today I put it in neutral, pushed 4hi & lo together a couple of times & it went into 4lo. But it will not shift back to 4hi. Only back to 2hi... What the )^*(*) ??

If anyone else has this problem... The cheapest fis & first thing to try is... are you ready???

Disconnect the battery, leave it for a minute... (not sure how important it is to leave it for a minute but...) then re-connect it. WORKED LIKE A CHARM!!!

Thx to Byte Stryke for suggesting to post. I got snoopy & searched through other similar problems & came up with this fix.

This is the typical sign for an encoder fault. The encoder is attached to the end of the shift motor on the side of the transfer case and is what tells the TCCM the precise location of the shift motor for proper model selection in the transfer case.

Do you have the Auto4wd option?
