2nd Gen Jeep steering shaft upgrade (2004)
I seem to have a different setup than the early 2nd gens. my Blazer does not have the upper "tulip" joint, it has a continuous shaft from the column. I had read the forums on this swap and got a '98 Grand Cherokee shaft based on others experience. The shaft I have will not be a direct swap. It works on the gear box ('98 grand Cherokee 12.7 ratio) but is larger than the stock shaft (I.D.) from the firewall. I am going to have to graft the two together. I wanted to have the added clearance around the ex-manifold but it looks like I will have to use the stock upper section. Has anyone else come across this dilemma ? It looks like I will be welding spacers on the stock shaft to increase the diameter for fit of the lower section Jeep shaft.(double d design) Any help or advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Thank You for pointing that out ! I didn't catch that in any of the swap vids I watched or forums read. My Haynes manual leaves alot to be desired. I should have cross referenced with other manuals. Once again thanks for answering my stupid question,I feel smarter now !
Here is a post from another forum that has most of the information that you need. V8S10.ORG ? View topic - Jeep Steering Shaft
