Default 2x4 to 4x4 conversion Questions

I have a 2001 2wd 4 door and was wondering a couple of questions.
1) can I convert it to a 4wd?
2a) is it really feasible?
2b) if so what would be needed to accomplish such a task?
3) is it activated by a switch or automatic?
4) while in 2wd will i see comprable gas milage
(on the note of gas milage is there a way to boost it )

To make a long answer short. No you can't convert it to a 4wd. Your better off buying a 4x4. There are way too many differences in the 2 trucks. There are several threads addressing this.

You can do anything with enough tools and enough money. I know a few people who made their 2wd a 4wd but didn't use anything off a 4x4 s10

HA! I searched prior to posting but put in the wrong search parameters. Oh well I was eager to have a new project ( I traded out my heater and evaporator core successfully ). Has anyone figured out a way to cost effectively convert a normal engine to a hybrid vehicle? I gotta figure that as with most things you can do it if you have the tools and more importantly the $$$ . (my guess most of the cost would be the in the battery)

[Old guy rant] I worked at a truck salvage yard for 6 months about 20 years ago and converting 2x trucks to 4 was really common. But now I have trouble doing a simple tune up on vehicles made after that. It's not even the computer thing that so many people use as an excuse, I just can't get even my dainty little software engineer hands into those tight spaces (how do mechanics with their beefy mitts manage to work on anything?). And, back to the point, slapping a transfer case underneath with a stick through the floor isn't going to give you a 4x like it did before Clinton was elected (not saying it's his fault, but it's an interesting coincidence)
