Default 4 wheel drive question.

On the vacuum switch does one vacuum line activate 4H and the other 4L?

No. Of the 3 lines, one is the vacuum feed from the engine, another is a vent that comes up to near the dipstick (at least on 2nd gens anyway) and the other is the vacuum line that runs to the actuator under the battery.
