Default 4wd metal clicking problems?

I have been hearing sounds from the front end of the truck thinking the cv's were cracked but didn't help at all. Think it might be a wheel bearing but dont know if it would be making those sounds with the 4wd on or not. Any ideas what that could be. Thanks yall!

So it makes the noise when in 4wd and not when in 2wd? If so, it sounds like your front axle isn't properly engaging. Check out the Tech Article (DIY) Index in my signature for technical articles about the 4wd system.

There is some rattling noise when in 2hi but when put in 4wd those sounds a lot louder and sound terrible. I did read through that article but i don't think thats what it is. Just driving down the street in 2wd theres those small rattling sounds that just dont sound normal. I was hoping it was the cv axle but got that fixed and the problem is still there.
