Please check the DIY post on OBD2 Non-Automatic Transfer Case Diagnostics
As with any of these types of problems, you should check over all grounds under the dash and underhood as well as pulling the connections off of the encoder motor on the transfercase and the transfercase control module (located behind the front kick panel on the passenger side) and check for corrosion.

ive found that you need to put the truck in neutral and be going less than 3MPH and the light will stop blinking and switch over to 4lo. of course you need to do the same thing to get it out of 4lo

Here's a problem: My 2000 Blazer has been been in 4wd quite a bit lately. It has the Auto 4wd option, 2Hi, 4Hi, and 4Lo options. We've been using all of the above with the large amount of snow here. Well, today, when it was placed in Auto 4wd to go thru some nasty streets, it suddenly will not release from this mode. Instead of going back to 2hi when pressing the Auto button again, it tries to put the truck in 4Lo! Help.

Check your switch could be bad...that is a good place to start. Then the actuator.
