Default 4X4 is blowing fuses

I have had many Blazers in my life but none new enough to not work because of a blown fuse. I have a 1992 full-size K1500 with shift on the floor. I thought it was a manual transfer case when I bought it but have found that it won't work because every time I pop in a new fuse...it POPS! Any ideas why??? Thanks in advance!

I would definately consider that. Every time I engage into 4 Hi or 4 Lo, my voltage gage drops and the lights dim. As soon as I put it back into 2 Hi all goes back to normal. If I leave it too long in 4 then the fuse blows. If it is electrical, I have no idea where to look. I was wondering if there was a motor or something that might be lcoked up and causing the excess amp draw. If there are any other ideas, feel free to jump in.

I like this group, everyone seems pretty knowledgable. I'm 33 and have been a NHRA gear head since I was 16. There isn't a whole lot I don't know about Chevys' but this one truely has me stumped. Thanks again!
