Default 4x4 issue

k this could be an easy 1 but i was readin through some of the post here and didnt really find what i was lookin for.

1999 chevy blazer LS 4dr 4x4

k i use my 4wd quite a bit but mostly just 4hi goin down some trails or in the snow but anyways i attempted to use 4lo oneday, it went into gear easily enough crawled through the mud which wasnt very thick or deep but i thought i might have gotten stuck in 4hi so reason why i used it. but when it came time to switch back into 2wd the light just flashed so i stopped put it into park and then it switched back into 2wd is this normal or am i supposed to be able to switch it on the fly like it says if not i gots a wee lil problem right and i wonderin what i might have to do to correct this problem
any info would be great k thanks

Mines has the same type of what I would can personality traits.
Heres a link to a post I did yesterday maybe it can answer some of your questions.
https://blazerforum.com/m_92610/tm.htm
Just look for the post by 99 Blazer 4x4 I have a PBR Logo under my ID.
Hope this helps and again I have found that by shifting mine like what I wrote there took care of all my probems. It doesn't sound to me like a major mechanical issue. Some other guys on here might have a difference of opinions, but I would recommend you try this if it works great, if not go from there. Zach

nice post ill give it a try but from what you said i pretty much do when messin round with 4x4 go from 2wd to 4hi then on to 4lo as for the reverse 4lo - 4hi - 2hi sounds like it should work that way and yea my trucks got some miles on it so might be a lil tough on it switchin from 4lo to 2hi but it will do it only have to go from D to either P or N for it to switch thanks for your help on this 1

I thought that the tranny always had to be in Neutral or park to switch the 4WD to 4LO or back to 2HI.
