4x4 not working

Default 4x4 not working

i have a 2000 4x4 lt...well about three weeks ago i was driving to work in a thunder storm and all of a sudden i see a yellow light pop on my dash out the corner of my eye.well its the service 4wheel drive light...everything was fine and working then the light comes on a my 4wheel drive switch lights all go out...anybody knows what it is? i checked the fuse and i have plenty of fluid..i tried to look for messed up vac lines..i dont know what to look for..thanks for any info guys...

check the codes. any error light has a computer code that can be checked at an auto parts store. hope that helps

can i run the code myself with a paper clip and count the flashes or do i need to hook up a scan tool??

If you have auto4wd (auto button on the dash), then you must use a scan tool. Otherwise, you can use the DIY article that lastcoupe wrote (although I think it has been clipped to 4000 characters...).

yup i have auto 4x4.man that sucks..can auto zone do this or do i have to take it to chevy?

Default RE: 4x4 not working

Tech2 or equivalent scan tool is required to access the TCCM of an auto4wd optioned vehicle. Any garage that has the GM enhanced data packs for their snap-on, etc scan tools should be able to access and read the codes.
