Default 4x4 not working

Hi, I have a 99 blazer and the 4x4 shows no signs of life. none of the lights work on the button selector aside from the backing light and there is no sound of engagement. The guy I bought it from thought it was the transfer case control module, but I replaced it and still nothing. The button selector seems to be in good condition and I also checked and replaced the fuses. Seems like it's probably a wiring issue. any ideas? thanks.

This is a post from Lesmyer who found all this awesome info when he was doing his trouble shooting on the 4 button system and should be able to help you trouble shoot yours. Thanks Les and anyone involved.
