Exclamation 4x4 stuck

I have just bought a 2002 Blazer LS, an issue I hadnt noticed initially when driving was that the 4x4 drive is stuck engaged. On the dash it shows it in 2 wheel but in reality its stuck at 4. I shifted it from 2 to 4 and back could hear the motor move it, but to no luck. Im trying to figure out the issue as the rest of the vehicle is in good shape and its my first vehicle. I am new to these kinds of issues.Any help is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum. Excellent choice Sir. Many threads here for diagnosing 4 wheel drive. Specify between 3 button (2 hi, 4 hi, 4 low) or 4 button ( + AUTO ) system.

What he said. If your only evidence is that the front driveshaft is turning when you drive, you may be surprised.

Front and rear tires were skipping almost like the diffs were locked and she was spinning in the dirt patch with all 4 tearing it up rather than 2 of the wheels just grazing through. Any ways got off early from work so buddy and I headed down got the vacuum switch and installed it. now the front 2 wheels are fine but the rear is still locked up.... so yay new issues!

Great enthusiasm! There are hydraulic calipers and mechanical parking brakes on the rear that could be sticking. Or does it feel more grindy when rotated? Like dropping your fishing reel in the sand.

Good news is we got the front the front is free from 4wd but the rear is still stuck skipping. Are you talking manual rotation? If so I have not thought to check that. But while driving I wouldn't say its quite a grinding feeling in the wheel just more a skipping
