Default 89 Blazer Rear Sway Bar

Just as the title says… I have a 89 with no rear sway and I am going to purchase a Belltech. My questions is, with no sway bar being present, will the sway bar kit include all hardware I will need?

I doubt it will come with the hardware, though you can likely get what you need from your local parts store. If not, try rockauto.

so without sounding helpless… what parts would I need that may not be included?

I checked rock auto and I don’t see a listing for a rear sway bar… where would I resource the parts?

Try a dealer or local parts store. I couldn't tell you if the first gens even had a sway bar or not. I do know my 2000 ZR2 has one that needs the bushings replaced sooner rather than later.

I installed a OEM rear sway bar on my 89 S15 Jimmy. I pulled the sway bar from a S10 2WD Sport along with all the fittings. I used a cordless sawzall to cut the mounting tabs off the donor vehicle and I welded the tabs on my 89 S15 Jimmy. Except for the tabs everything else was bolt on.. The tabs would be very easy to fabricate as weld on or bolt on. I purchased new end links for the sway bar instead of using the donors.

Default End Link on Rock Auto

The OEM 2WD S10 Blazer rear sway bar is forward facing. This is the end link for the forward facing sway bar.

Is your 89 blazer 2WD or 4WD? The 2WD requires a forward facing sway bar and Belltech does not make a rear sway bar for the 2WD. My understanding is that the gas tanks are different and will interfere with the 4WD sway bar. If it is 4WD the Belltech will fit. The end links I posted from Rockauto are for the forward facing sway bar.
