On my 2000 ZR2 blazer my abs light keeps comming on. Mostly when its wet out or when I back up a bit fast and put the brakes on. I took to a local garage and they scanned it and told me the abs unit was probably bad and wanted to charge me 600.00 to fix it and no guarantee.
I went on Ebay and found one for my blazer and replaced it..
The problem is still there.
I have traced the wires on the front wheels sensore up to the unit and the wires look good.
Anybody else have this problem?
Thanks

Does it do it when you push on the brakes hard or is it just randomly doing it while driving or...?
Because if your putting on the brakes hard to stop the car after backing out fast it will engage as ABS is designed to prevent wheel lock up modulating the brake pressure during an emergency stop.

Some times it comes on when I start the Blazer. Other times when I back up. Sometimes just while I'm driving, but mostly at start up.

The ABS light on means that the ABS unit has been disabled. So when you make an emergency stop your tires will lock up and you will slide. Back in the day we used to pump the brakes to stop. Pumping the brakes does several things, stops the truck in a controlled fashin, plus the time you let off the brakes allows the rotors time to cool off so you dont warp them.
