A couple of days ago my abs has starting kicking on. My abs light has been on since I bought the god forsaken thing, but after recently having my wheel bearings replaced, the light turned off, thats when the abs started kicking on EVERY time I stop, even when the roads are perfectly clear and free of ice and snow, causing the wheels to lock up and making me slide into an intersection, or almost another vehicle.

Now, normally it would be whatever, just another kick in the *** for buying a blazer. But, since I have almost gotten into several accidents because of this problem, I need to do something about it. If someone can tell me what the problem is, thats great, I would like to know whats wrong, but I have decided that I am done putting money into this piece of crap. So basically all I need to know is if its possible to disable the abs period. Like pulling a fuse or cutting a wire, something... Id appreciate it if anyone could help me out, Im at my wits end with this thing and Im now to the point that I dont care if I have to jimmy rig things so I have a vehicle until I can purchase one thats worth a damn. This is the worst vehicle I have ever owned and I cant wait to get rid of it!!

 

lol s10s arent that bad, you just need to remove half the stuff off of them to make them useable.

but yeah you can pull the fuse or unplug the abs computer/ pump. ive bypassed the abs on my 93 s10 and 1990 fullsized truck. on the 1990 by unplugging the computer the light went away, not sure if that will work with yours being newer

Thanks guys I just needed to know if I could pull the fuse without screwing up the rest of my breaking system. I have done some research and I think I figured out the problem, but considering I am no where near a tech, its something that Im going to have to pay someone to do, and I just cant afford anymore repairs on this thing. So I much appreciate your responses!

 

there should be a ABS relay under the hood , fire wall or fuse panel
if you unplug or remove it it will likely put the ABS light on on the dash but stop the brake weirdness
BTW You likely have a bearing/ abs sensor crapping out and that is likely the root of your issues

 

THANK JESUS!!! I have had the exact same problem... ever since i replaced my wheel bearings too... i have actually driven on top of a car's bumper and hood thanks to the stupid abs. Thank you for this.
