Default Another clunk question

Hello,

I have a 1998 Blazer with 4wd. Sometimes when I go forward (2wd) there are a few subtle "thumps" like gears are meshing. Seems to be coming from back end of truck. After 2 or 3 MPH it goes away and all seems to function normally. I do have the G80 rear end if it matters. It happens more often while on an incline. Searching forums I didn't find any threads similar.

Any ideas???

Thanks,

Earl

have you checked the u joints? chock the wheels and put it in neutral..see if there is excessive play by moving the drive shaft side to side and up and down
