they're not very popular around here. plus I'm sure i won't be able to find one with 6 lugs. which is what i got on my wheels. and the option of changing to 8 lugs is to expensive for me.
so I'll rephrase my question...
if i put the detroit locker on the 10 bolt - will it make the axle stronger or weaker? and if it will make the axle weaker, where exactly?
and another thing - I'd be thankful if you'll be more specific with the NO recommendation
this is why everyone should list where they're from. we've been giving this guy options that are all readily available to all of us here in North America. if you truely want to have peace of mind and play with your toy, upgrade to full floating axles. even the older 12 bolts are a superior upgrade to the 10 bolt diff's.

first of all i apologize if i wasn't clear enough about where i'm based. if i'm not mistaken i mentioned that in the first few messeges.
and second thing - i know there's superior axles out there but i'm on a low budget right now and i'm unable to spend so much money on this situation.
by the way, prices in Israel doubles your so..
any way - the question remines - let's say that i have no choise but to stay with this 10 bolt. if i put in a detroit locker - what excatly will happen to the axle? where it's weak spots will be? and where it's strong spots will be? and will it break in an unbeliveable rate or will it stand, because ofter all i'm not climbing walls with this damn truck

A 12-bolt would be a good upgrade and would still retain the same 6-lug bolt pattern. If that is out of the question, then I would not go putting a locker in. You will make the diff stronger, but at the expense of the axle shafts themselves. This is especially true if you drive on the road quite a bit. You will increase the wear on the locker if road driven a lot. That is where a selectable locker becomes nice. There are air lockers (ARB), cable lockers (ORB), and electronic lockers (EATON).

regarding the cost of lockers (any type), and the labour if you're not able to do them yourself, it probabaly would be cheaper to find a pair of 12 bolts, and swap them in.
it sounds like this has happen to you before. how many times has the diff broke on you?

actually it broke down just once. but you see - this truck is very rare in my country and after i bought it a decided that I'm gonna keep it no matter what.
so when the diff broke down i grounded the truck and decided to take the long and more intensive solution. the simple solution was to buy the broken (we call it satellite) and continue to drive on this axle. instead i did some intense research and discovered that this axle is weak. when i discovered that fact i decided that i will let the truck sit down for months before I'll cave in and go with the simpler solution.
by the way i read an article about this blazer that the shaft broke down and the wheel came off, and it took him five hours to get the truck back to the house. he installed the Detroit locker and put in yukon shafts with 30 splines that from what i understood are stronger. is it possible to do so in my case?

There should be stronger shafts available for the 10-bolt as well as c-clip eliminators (those will keep your wheels from falling off), but they are expensive here because of the weakness of this axle and the stronger axles that are plentiful.

I'd send you one, but I currently only have the 10-bolt from under my '90 parts Suburban. I will be picking up another '74 K5 in a few weeks here that will have a 12-bolt rear. I do not know the gear ratio of this one though. I am hoping that it is a 4.10.

Well, I would recommend... not investing any money into a 10 bolt rearend other than stronger aftermarket axles.
An old trick that I have done several times is to install 12 bolt side gears into the 10 bolt carrier along with 12 bolt axles. You may hafta do a little grinding to clear the 31 spline axles through the 10 bolt carrier but it will work. Of course you will still have the weaker 10 bolt carrier...

I just spent the cash about a month ago on a Detroit trutrac and new Moser axles for my 10 bolt. I was going to get a Detroit locker but after reading reviews of ppl with it in a DD sounded like a bad idea. When i talked to the local 4wd shop he said the same. Droped 1800 for all new guts and stepped up in gear to a 373. The trutrac is a great unit if you drive your truck everyday. A selectable locker is better but about 3 times the price. If it is engaged with air dont forget to buy a onboard compressor. I will be putting in a eaton elocker in the front once the funds will allow.
Axle shafts $130 each in the us
Trutrac $400 in the us

how about lugs adaptors? in Israel the only axles i could found were 8 lugs and i have 6. is the 14 bolt is wider then the 10 bolt? if it's not too different mayb the adapters will be a good idea, then i'll lock the 14 bolt and so on and so on.. by the way if you guys could recommend some online shops for me to browse at, it'll be nice. you know, shafts, adapters, lockers and so.
i could try to get a good price on a suitable axle if this idea will work

hey guys!
lock-right and EZ locker are out of the question right?
i just got off the phone with some guy that was driving in his blazer for 6 years with lock right in the front and the back.
