Default Axle Swap To Ford 8.8 Posi?

Alright I have a problem, Went to get a wheel alignment the other day and found out my rear axle is bent somewhat. .66 degree on the right side and .33 on the left. Thought about trying to adjust the rear end but I decided to just swap out the rear end instead. I want to drop a 8.8 posi rear axle into the rear. Has any one done this before? Can anyone give me some tips? Best ratio size? year make and model of appropriate vehicle to take it out of? Any help wold be greatly appreciated

I'm doing the same thing. There is some good info in here on the subject. Search 8.8 explorer and a very good write from s-series.org. The basics include a 8.8 from a ford explorer, 95+ have disc brakes. Whatever gear ratio you have must match the front diff as well. The one I found is a 3.73 from a 99 explorer sport. Hope this helps.
