i would think the 14 bolt dana 60 combo would be fine especially in that light of a truck, theres so many people running those under fullsized trucks with 44s. a ford 9 inch might be a good choice for a rear axle if you want to go a bit smaller.

i thought about doing a big s10 like this but thought nah, im glad i did 33s have been just as fun as ive had in the past with full size trucks and 38s, way more nimble, quicker, can actually see where youre going.

Rockwells are way too big for a 4.3 and 44s. Most guys run 1 ton stuff in their rock bouncers, and I challenge you to beat a Blazer/Jimmy that hard.

Yeah I don't have a clue how he managed that. I still think 44's would be about the max I would run for a stock D60, if you're throwing a bunch of money at it then sure 44's no problem and even bigger. RCV warranties up to a 49 for their D60 shafts so if you want more than a 44" tire I would be saving my pennies for those.

yeah, i want to gear down, limited slip the rear, lock the front, use a doubler on a 203/205 tcase for a 4:1 low range and 1 tons i think. might end up doing a 5.7 v8 swap if im power starved too. once this ball gets rolling, ill start a build thread. currently, just saving for the build, and researching the best options so i wont have to do 3 builds due to weak parts.

Good idea!! I finally figured that out, myself. I would always cheap out, and end up spending as much, if not more to patch up the cheap parts than it would have cost to just buy the right part to begin with.

While I was doing some searching for what to get for my next project on my blazer I came across this. It was published in a 4 wheeler magazine in Feb 2009

Axles Revealed: Choosing the Right Axle for Your Upgrade

Maybe that might help with the choices?

good link! thanks, clears up a few things. im most likely going to run one tons, unless i find 2.5 rockwells. my theory is that you cant really be too strong. the 4.3 might be ditched after the SAS, looking at a 5.7 and if possible, a 6.0 with a super in it.
