Default ball joints

I just bought a pair of Moog upper ball joints. My ball joints needs to be replaced upper and lower. My old ones are barley hanging on and very loose...just plain worn out. My question is the new ball joints are stiff and I cannot even move them by hand...are they not supposed to move or is there supposed to be some freeplay?
I don't know alot about ball joints so any help is appreciated.

Stiff is good. If they are loose when new, return them as they won't last for crap.

ok, thanks swartlkk.
Just to make sure...my blazer is a 2001 Xtreme and I know that the suspension is alot different than the other blazers. The ball joints that I bought were for a RWD, which is what mine is, but since it being an Xtreme is there any special ball joints for it or just use what I bought?
