Default Car won`t switch to 2HI

Hi guys,
get my Blazer today and there are the first problems...

There`s no light burning on the 4WD control switch, but it was at 2HI for sure when I drove it home.

Then I tested 4HI and 4LO and it switched well. Now it`s at 4HI and won`t get back to 2HI. Wenn I push the 2HI button there are some noises, and all lights are out on the control panel but the car drives 4WD...

Is there some possibility to switch it manual back to 2WD to drive around until I have time to fix the problem? E.g. pushing some vakuum actuators...

Would be great if someone could help me...

Oh, it`s a 98 4WD 4dr Blazer...

Julian

I had the exact same issue with my 98 as well. I winded up having corrosion on the transfer case control module connector and a weak encoder motor. Check for your codes using the step by step process that another member has posted. Then go from there.

For now I`ve just disconnected the locking cable, so I can drive 2WD...

What exactly does the encoder motor do? Switching between HI and LO? That`s because that works...
