Default Ctrl am bushings

I recently found out that the loud screech comingfrom my driver side front tire werethe upper and lower control arm bushings. Theywere practically non existent. The noisehappens whenever I put the tranny in reverse or drive. Is this a real time consuming repair?

I believe it is quite extensive..I think someone made a quick write up on how to get them out...

Think about everything attached to the control arm...all that has to come off...

I did my entier front end on my 1994 S10 Blazer4x4. If you have 4WD it will be fair amount of work. You will have to get the torsion bars out an they are tight.

You have to disconnect the upper and lower ball joints, the tie rods, the axle nut and the front brakes to remove the spindle. There is also the torsion bar and stabilizer bar in the lower control arm. The passenger side torsion bar can be hard to get out, until you remove the exhaust system.

You can burn the old bushings out with a propane torch. I initially tried a butane torch, but that takes a lot longer. Then you take the new bushings and control arms into a shop to get them pressed in.

I had never done any of this work before and I found it was a lot of work and it took quite a while. If you are familiar with the work then I am sure it will be faster, but for me it was a decent sized job.
