Default Cv Axles

I have a 1996 2 door Chevy Blazer LS, and I need to replace the cv axle on the front driver side! My question/ problem is I can't find any 96 blazer's, and the cv axle looks Simi different on the 1997-2001 blazer's... Can I still use a cv axle off a different year? I know the control arms work, because I have replaced them!

Well, there is bolts on the axle, but to get it out all you have to do is pull it, and it slides out

You still have to unbolt it from the differential, though, right?

Just looked on rock auto. The part number for your 96 is the same as my 95. I bet any with the same bolted flange would work

No, the only things I had to unbolt was the control arms, it pulled right! And the reason I did that was cause they were in the way, and other then that it come right out, I left the hub on, I took the brake caliper off, and rotor but I don't have a deep socket for the hub nut!

I'm talking about the bolts where the axle attaches to the differential, not on the knuckle end. There's six bolts on each cv that attach to the flange on the differential.

In the last picture you posted, it shows them

Some later models were splined, and slid into the differential, and had a snap ring, I believe. The ones before that bolted on
