Default differential HELP?!?

2001 chevy blazer
Ratio 3.42
10 bolt

my diff fluid ran dry and I didnt know it, it busted either the outer or inner pinion bearing but thats all I can tell thats wrong with it, should I put a new pinion gear and bearings in it or just a whole new rear end? I'm hearing 2 different things and figured I would ask on here..really need this answered...thanks in advance.

If you have access to a cheap pull it yourself yard, then just replace the whole diff (make sure you still have 3.42 though). Shouldnt cost more then a Benjamin

+1, rebuilding a diff isn't a DIY job if you don't know what you are doing. Replace the whole rear end from one that has the same gears. Just look up the RPO code in your glove box.

The RPO code to look find for your truck for the 3.42 gear rear end is GU6.
