Default e brake question

So I'm not sure if this question belongs in this section but here it goes. I got the blazer which is a manual and the ebrake doesn't work so I look down there and the cable is zipped tied to the frame so I was at sears getting an alignment done and asked them if they could just hook it up for me. They call me back and say the I don't have the axle that that blazer is suppose to have so my question is how do I find out what type of axle I have so I can find the right ebrake cable to run so that I can get the parking brake working?

first things first:
drop down and look at it from the rear bumper. see the circle in the middle? thats the diff cover. how many bolts hold it on?
10? Good, we can work with that. 12? BONUS: you have a free Heavy Duty rear up grade! 14? No F-ing way! how did you mis the 8 lug nuts in the rear!?!?

ok so if it's a ten bolt, then:
you can tear it apart and measure the ring gear, then start counting splines, figuring out gear ratios and everything else incase you want to swap etc.

OR

read the casting numbers/code on the tube/diff housing and google it or a tool like this one

yours SHOULD look a bit like the last one

most were standard with a 7.625" 10 bolt rear.

There are deffinatly 10 bolts and looks more like the one on the right. Whats this mean in regards to the ebrake?

As far as the e-brake is concerned I would think that as long as you have drum brakes in the rear it shouldn't matter what axle you have to get the cable hooked up.

If you DO have drums on the back take a look at this. LINK
It's off a Jetta I think but looks exactly the same as any other drums I've seen.
'05 Silverado
'86 K5
'00 Dakota
'94 Yukon
'80 Chevy stepside....etc

so I pull my the drums off and find out the the cables that are zipped tied are for disc brakes f@#* me right? Apparently someone swapped out the rear axle and put one on with drum brakes so I get to try to find what the hell kind it is and try to hunt down some cables.

I would think you could get an e-brake cable for a model with the same wheel base as yours and it should work fine. You may have to move the mounting points around a bit to make sure you get enough tension on the cable to set the brake though.

so your truck is a "S" series Blazer, must have missed that in the OP.

oisinirish is right, just get the PB cables for a drum braked truck, and install away.
