Default Four wheel low

I have a 2001blazer 4x4. Today when pulling my friend out of mud, i decided to switch from high to low. So I pushed the button and the light on low flashed, did not engage and returned to the high setting. Works fine in high range. What is the cause of the problem? Thanks

I not quite exactly sure, but I believe you need to put it in neutral then shift into 4lo.

Very true. The tranny MUST be either in neutral or park in order to shift from 4hi to 4lo. Same thing with shifting from 4lo to 4hi.

I haven't went outside and tried it yet. I believe you are right I haven't used low in a while and forgot about shifting to neutral.
