Default front diff problems

i have a 93 full size blazer. when i engage the 4x4 the front driveshaft spins but i had the truck off the ground and the front wheels dont spin. someone told me that the ring and pinion or the spider gears were shot but i would hear something and i dont. i thought that it might be stripped axles but the only way that i see it being that happening is if the guy that owned it before me drove in 4 low for a whole day. anybody have any ideas?

Sounds as though the front axle actuator is not engaging the front diff. There is an actuator that is located on the passenger side of the differential. The stock actuator is magnetic. My dad went through the same trouble with his '94 pickup. The replacement actuator was a stepper motor that will positively engage instead of the problematic magnetic actuator that had a tendancy to stick.

The actuator will thread into the side of the diff. I'm betting that it is your problem.
