Default Front drive shaft play on the transfer case

Hey guys
I finally got time to check out the clunking noise I had when putting the car in reverse.
What I found is that there is a play in the front drive shaft. Like I can wiggle it around with my hands. The play is at the bottom side where it attaches to the transfer case.
Is this common? Is there a way to fix it or do I have to get an entire drive shaft?

with my experience its likely the cv joint in the front drive shaft that has play, no they are not a serviceable joint, best chance is a scrap yard and go around and find one with no play and make sure the boot is not ripped.

It's been a few years, but were you able to replace the CV joint, and did it fix the issue? I have a Buick Rainier with the same issue along with vibration the faster I go.

He hasn't been on since dec 2019, I would start a new thread in the right spot, with a description of your issue. You might get a faster response
