Default Front thumping noise

I've got a 2000 Jimmy w/4wd. Started making a thumping/vibration noise which seems to come from the front, possibly the right. I first thought it was a bad tire, but after replacing the tires, the noise is still there. I'm thinking it's a bad front bearing or CVJ. Anybody have any suggestions to troubleshoot? (When I replaced the front tires, I tried rotating the front wheels to see if I could feel the vibration, but there seemed to be too much brake pressure or something which wouldn't let the wheels turn freely).
