Default Front wheel bearing....

1998 4X4

Getting a fairly loud whirrrrrrrr when going straight or turning right. When I turn to the left, the noise stops. Noise is not real noticeable until over 30mph. The noise seems to be coming from the right front.... By this can you figure out if it is the left or right wheel bearing (assuming that is what it is...). Hate to replace wrong one....

Thanks!

Thinking that if your turning right there is pressure off of left tire so noise still there...if turning left pressure is on that tire (and bearing) so maybe that's the side its bad????? Did you try jacking it up and spinning each tire and see if you can hear anything?

Sounds like a driver side wheel bearing failure.

I usually try to replace both sides at the same time. What ever caused the first to go bad, usually happened to both sides. As a result, it's just a matter of time.

Default Finished!

When I took things apart, the drivers side was more noticeable than the passenger, but like advised, I just replaced both. Now smooth and quiet!
