i have a 2002 blazer. its a 2 door and 2wd. it has approx 83000 miles on it. it has the optional g80 govlock in it. My first question is what size is my rear end so that i can look at other lockers?. my next question is does anybody have any advice on which available locker to go with? The problem with my rear end is this: when i get one tire spinning on snow or ice, i hear what i believe to be clutches in the g80 slipping past eachother. sometimes it will lock up and i'll get traction, other times nothing but like a loud growling type of noise and one wheel peel. Any advice?

The lunch-box style locker will not go into a G80 carrier so you will have to get an open carrier ($90 last time I checked) of the same series as your current carrier. The series is dependent on what gears you currently have. There is a thread around here somewhere that runs down the series designations and what gears fit on them.
The diff is a 7.625" GM diff with 28 splines on the axle shafts as the notes in ABN31B's link state.

thanks for the help with what size the diff is. would it make more sense to find a locker that will work with what i have which is the g80 carrier, or no? not trying to second guess anybody or anything as i am new to this, but it seems that there would be an easier way to go about getting a locker that fits.

There is nothing that will fit into the G80 carrier. You will have to replace the carrier either with a complete locking differential package or with an open carrier to toss in a lunch-box style locker.

well then are there any complete locking differential packages that would be a similar price to the cost of the lunch box style locker recommended above with the cost of a new carrier added to it? just trying to keep my options open. and if i decide to get a new open diff carrier, then where would i go for that, junkyard, or new? Thanks and sorry for all the questions.
would this work, or no? and is it any good? I'm looking for max traction in daily driving and some soft roading. nothing hardcore, just some dirt trails. and i have a buddy with a lifted 4wd truck when i do (inevitably) get stuck.

Well looks like it would, but for that price, I would rather spend the money on a full differential than just a 'lunch-box' type.
And please edit your post rather than posting consecutively. Thanks!
