Grinding vibrating when it dips
OK, had my 2001 4x4 blazer dropped for a few years now. Been great.
The last couple of months when I hit a dip in the road at highway speed the right front makes a grinding noise. I have had it apart and nothing is rubbing. Not the tire or any signs of contact. There is a little vibration all the time now as well. really bad when the front dips though.
Any ideas what can cause this?

Lowered a perfectly good 4X4???
Front or rear driveshaft hitting something, binding/stiff universal joint, half shaft rubbing on something, worn CV joint? All of which are possible when you lower a vehicle. You're asking it to do things and operate under conditions that it was not designed for.

Correct me if I'm wrong here: The transfer case and the front differential are mounted to the chassis. When the body jounces and rebounds, both driveshafts and both half shafts move up and down independently. If the body is lowered, something could easily contact any of them. Same holds true if front chassis ride height was lowered out of spec. Over time, not miles, torsion bars lose their lift allowing the body to drop lower.
