Default How effective are Blazer brakes

How good is the stopping power of 96 Blazer brakes? On a scale of 1 to 10 with 1 being non-pwr manual brakes and 10 throwing you thru the windshield, mine are around a 5. If a deer ran out in front of me I could not stop. Pedal is not hard, but not spongy ether.

I have literally replaced, reconditioned, or held in my hands every single part of my brake system short of the 4-wheel ABS box and the brake pedal, and
bled extensively.

Mine are probably 8. They stop very fast, I've actually had to slam on my breaks to miss some deer.

After 98 blazers have 4 wheel disk brakes and they stop on a dime, or at least my 01 blazer did. But 97 and down like yours and mine they have drums in the rear and don't stop for crap. I know what you mean by not spongy but not hard. Mine are the same

yeah, my 95 stopped alright. same thing as you and cherry, not spongy but not hard. well that was until the booster went out and then they were hard as a BRICK!!! both of my 98's stop great. my personal is a little better than the work blazer, but my personal doesnt have as much crap in it either.

I'm getting another 2 quarts of fluid in the morning, getting use to swimming in it. I gave up on the bleeding tube and just let it run on the floor. At least you don't have to jack up a Blazer to get under it. I got lots of air last time but then it ran clear. Probably some more trapped air.
