Loose CV Axle
Hey everyone!
I could use some suggestions with my front CV axles. I have a 99 LT with four button 4X4. I did a bunch of work on the front end a few months ago. Pretty much rebuilt the front end with new hub assemblies, tie rods, axles, ball joints and so on. Well, the axles I installed keep wanting to back out of the differential. The passenger side not so much but the drivers side comes out a lot! I am not sure what to do or what the problem is. The seals pressed into the diff. cover are new and I am sure I have the axle seated all the way in, it could not possibly go in an farther because it is butted up against the diff. (at least for a little bit). The axles I installed looked identical to what I took out and it had the snap ring installed on it though I am not sure if that is what is supposed to keep it seated. I had an alignment done after the front end work and they said they checked the ride height which was fine so it dont think the previous owner did a T bar crank, not sure if that would cause this but I think it might since it puts additional strain on the axles. I replaced the old axles because the gooey green monster threw up all over the place!
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
P.S. I searched the forum pretty hard and didnt find this problem posted yet.
