Default LooseTilt Steering Wheel

My tilt mechanism has been loose for a little while now and I did some internet searches and seems this is a pretty common problem with the GM Tilt Steering Column. Requires quite a bit of dissassembly of the steering column to remove the screws responsible and locktite them and re-install the screws and re-assemble the column. I stopped by my local chevy dealer and the service manager did not have a clue about this repair and could not look up anything as old as my car on the computer. One of the technicians estimated 2-3 hours and even maybe longer. I went to a independent mechanic that I have used in the past and trust as soon as I mentioned what was wrong he knew all about it & what it would take to repair and has done them in the past. His estimate is 1-1.5 hours as long as the bolts are not stripped out. I left the Jimmy with him and he should get it done on Friday. We will see how it all works out. This is on my 89 S15 Jimmy with 421K on the odometer. I just replaced the OEM steering shaft with one from a Jeep Cherokee, replaced upper ball joints, center link and idler arm. The car is riding very nice and straight. The loose tilt steering column will fix the last item for the steering.

Update: 1 hour of Labor for around $87.00 and my steering wheel is nice and tight.
