Default My questions on torsion bar removal

OK. So now the truck is running good it's time for me to dig into the driver side lower control arm bushings. I did the uppers already. Now I've been reading on the big bugger, removing the torsion bar. Now I think I've got this figured out. But got a couple questions.

Now I have one of those heavy gear pullers that i'm going to use to release the torsion bar tension on the adjuster arm. Now in the book it says to put the puller on the adjuster arm. I read somewhere to put the puller on the BOLT? After looking at it that doesn't make much sense.

Next. I've read about how hard it is to get the torsion bar out of the lower control arm. Here's my idea. I'd like to remove the tension from the adjuster arm and remove the adjuster nut (I see how to do that now). Then unbolt the control arm from the lower ball joint (it's been replaced by me so, yeah, I can just unbolt it) then take out the control arm pivot bolts and after disconnecting the swaybar linkage, can't I just drop the control arm and remove the torsion bar with the control arm and not mess with taking it out. Since I'm just going to replace the bushings can't I just leave it in the control arm?
