Oh and there was no clunking when putting it in drive either. We just went under and wiggled the drive shaft at each end to find out which one it was. There was about a 1/2 inch of play at the rear diff end.

Well, the U-joints are solid, so that leaves the transmission, bearings or differential unless there's something else I'm forgetting about. The search continues. Anyone else out there lurking that may have an idea?
