Default Name this sound...

So about two weeks ago my truck started developing a small squeak, it's now turned into this... I'm going to tear into it next weekend and find it, but what do you guys think; ball joint or bushings? I do know it's coming from the lower control arm.

What's this noise?

When is the last time all the font end component grease zerks were lubed? Lube them all up and you should be good to go.
Sounds just like when I had the 94 and the balljoint got dry, added some grase and it was quiet

Rich, I'm thinking it's the lower ball joints too, they don't accept grease very well when i've lubed them. My neighbor, who's a gear head, thinks its the bushings. Of course this is all just by site and sound since we haven't gotten the truck on his lift yet.

Jimmy, yeah, i've already hosed down the bushings and every other thing possible with PB or Lithium Grease to no avail; another reason why i'm thinking ball joints are dry.

I would put money on the ball joints being dry, that is the exact noise that my 94 was making when the lower ball joints were dry.

as for squeaking control arm bushings, I have not really heard of the OEM rubber ones squeaking that much, I mostly know them for getting old, and crumbling then you are left with a front end clunk.
The aftermarket poly bushings can squeak.

You were right rich, I got under the truck today and I could feel the squeak coming from the lower ball joints. Greased them up, and the noise is gone.
