Exclamation neeed help with rear diff problem

well to make it as short as possible i blew the rear end right out of my 97 s10 blazer ls 4x4 4 door .... wondering what my gear ratio is in the rear end ...how do i find out what they were...

Search for "gear ratio" (including the quotes) and you should find all the information you need. Search works wonders!

I believe its in the rpo codes.... one is g80 which means you have the posi...

it is i figured it outi talked to a buddy at a auto wreakers he said theres 3 codes theres gt4 , gu6 and g80 is posi ... i got me a GU6...think ima changem them to g80s eventually afetr my 5" sespension lift and what not

I got lucky enough to get the g80 and then another rpo code which led me to discover I got a 3.42

I am not sure that I would call having the G80 diff "lucky"... It is actually a fairly weak diff. If you only casually offroad, you may never have a problem with it. But if you get to be more than casual, you will tear it apart.

I plan on going offroad "sparingly" and tend not to go much more than horizontal... so there shouldnt be too much strain on it... I just like to play in the mud...

if ya dont like getting muddy then your not having fun ... my gu6 held up decent in the mud , she'd still be good if i didnt pull that damn trailer the day before i spit the gears outta the *** end of her, the trailer only was 3700kgs loaded with abunch of ****
