Default Broken shifter shaft

91 S10 Blazer 4.3 V6 4x4

The shifter fork is snapped in two on my blazer. Is this hard to replace. Also it leaks gear oil around the seal .I can't find these parts anywhere. Any one else had this problem?

*Merged with your other thread for the continued discussion of your 4wd problems*

To replace this part, you will need to remove the passenger side axle tube. You will then be able to take the part out and replace it. I will have to see what else I can find about that part once I am home with the rest of my references, but I show that this piece is is one with the shift fork for the newer trucks.

I would pull the unit off and see whats going on inside the front axle tube. No, its not hard to do. Sounds like the coller is not sliding over enough to lock the shafts together.

As he has shown in the pictures in this thread, the shaft which the actuator cable pulls on broke. He needs to replace that piece.

Yes , just that shaft is broken. i've taken the cable housing off and there is enough shaft left to pull out and clamp on vice grips. 4wd then works just fine, but it does leak gear oil around the shaft.
