Default New Blue Fluid in the Transfer Case

I've been reading the posts on Autotrak II fluid and have a question; just replace the old red fluid with the blue or flush it with the blue and then refill? It's a 2000 Blazer with the four button 4WD and 120,000 miles.

Thanks

Phil

If its the four button that has A4wd correct, it should have autotrak 2 in it already, but if it was red something is wrong. I doubt a 2000 would have autotrak 1 which if I recall is red, maybe someone put dexron in it instead at somepoint thus it was red, or the shaft seal could be leaking allowing it to mix with the tranny. Since the stuff you drained wasnt blue I think the proper method is to change it then drive for like 100 miles then change it again.

My 2000 Bravada had red in it when I first changed it. I drained and refilled it with Autotrak II fluid then drove it for a month or so and repeated. When the fluid came out the second time it was not really too bad, but definitely not as good as when I first put it in.

Thank you both for the replies. I just checked the T-case to see which color the fluid is and was very disappointed to find it has been replaced with a clear fluid.

Bought the truck in June and have already put about 4K miles on it. The transfer seems to work fine but I'm really curious about the fluid. It's not burnt, just a bit dirty.

I will definitely be doing the flush.

I thought at first my transfer case oil had the look of something like power steeing fluid that was dirty. After looking a bit closer it was indeed blue. Replaced it with the Autotrak II. Around here it's about $9.00 for a litre bottle before tax.
