NP208 rebuild

I recently bought a full size '85 Jimmy as a project to get me off the couch on the weekends...it's definitely keeping me busy. It has an NP208 transfer case in it and it's leaking so I'm going to replace it. Since I've never cracked open a transfer case and I use my Jimmy as a daily driver I bought a second one off a guy to rebuild at my own leisure and swap it out when I get it all done. I started cleaning the donor and found some sealer randomly in the middle of the back case. I peeled it back and found a hole that obviously isn't supposed to be there so I want to replace the case rear half instead of just ghetto rigging it. I'm struggling to find a Chevy rear case half but I have found a Ford rear case half. Can anyone tell me if the rear case halves are interchangeable? I have read that there are some differences among the 208's but I'm not sure what they are and/or if the rear case half is one of them.

i would be concerned with speedo output and rear output bushing i.d. i really dont know, but i know who does if u wanna make a call monday morning. if u need the part or advice, call george at AUTOGEAR, in syracuse ny. he is the end all be all of nvg products period. if he cant tell u or find the part your in trouble lol. hes really nice and professional call him, and most nvg cases ive been in are simple, check out tremec.com you can probalby by i manual on that case if u like but theres not much to most of them, but dont recall myself ever being in a 208, before my time i guess

Thanks, I will see about giving him a call. The 208 doesn't seem to crazy internally. I wasn't horrified when I cracked it open.
