Default NP233 Transfer Case Rear Spline Count Question

Hello Forum,

I am in the process of getting a Transfer Case for my Blazer

My question is if you have the Identification code tag info
that is on your Transfer case.

Model No.
Assembly No.
Serial No.
Gear Ratio

Can you tell how many output splines you have in the rear?

I have noticed that the NP233 remanufactured Transfer Case can come
with different combinations of 27 or 32 Spline Counts.

Front Spline Count 27 - Rear Spline Count 27
Front Spline Count 27 - Rea Spline Count 32

Can you tell with the Transfer Identification Tag info what the Spline Count
is on the rear. I think from what I have found is that the front input is always 27 on the NP233 but the rear Spline Count can be 27 or 32.

Not sure what decides or how you know what the rear count is or should be
besides physically counting them.

Thanks for any info.

For anyone interested,

I think I found out my answer.

Some of the 92 and 93 Blazers came with a NP233C Transfer case also.
For some reason not all but some have a 27 Spline Output shaft.

Not sure if you were to look at the metal tag on the Transfer case if you
could figure that out. So beware if you pick one up from the salvage yard.
Not all NP233C are the same. A small minority could have a 27 rear output
spline. Best to know what year it came out to be on the safe side. Original
Transfer cases from 1994 and on would have a 32 rear spline output shaft.

Here is a parts list for those interested from DriveTrain. Great website. They
have everything.
