Default Plean explain this to me..about 4x4

About a week ago I posted saying my 4hi 4lo switch didn't do anything. Wouldn't blink or light up or sound like it was engaging. Well Yesterday I had my blazer at the shop to get my brakes looked at. Turns out I needed loads of brake work. I needed new rotors, calipers, pads, wheel cylinders, return springs, and brake shoes. Yeah lots of stuff. Well after that was fixed I get home and right when I turn the car off I noticed that the 4hi 4lo switch is blinking again

I haven't tested it yet to see if its working but I wanted to know, would my brakes being that messed up case the 4x4 switch to not work? If so should I not bother with 4x4 until I have it looked at by someone who knows what they are looking at to see if any damage was caused?

*EDIT*
also can someone point me in the direction of what the blinking is suppose to indicate. I think I read somewhere that it runs a kind of diagnostic to test itself when you start the car. So a certain amount of blinks means one thing or another, if that question makes sense lol.

No, the brakes will not affect the 4wd system.

The blinking of the lights on the switch means that it is attempting to shift into that particular 4wd mode. If it takes too long, it will revert back to the previously selected mode.

if you do a little searching youll find some easy ways to test the componets of your 4wd system, this seems to be a fairly common issue with the 4wd guys so there are plenty of threads and discussions on this subject.
