Default Possible SAS Swap?

I've been kicking around the idea of doing a SAS on my truck. The front axle of choice for me would be the Jeep Grand Wagoneer which has the Dana 44, you should price those puppies! There are a few of them for parts but they're few and far between which makes me a little leery of using one because of parts availability. Same goes for the 77.5 to 79 Ford F250 and F350. I'd use a D30 but what would I really gain from that swap? I'd have the same size ring gear and some small diameter axles with small u-joints and no lock outs available.

I did an SAS on a Dodge Dakota years ago, using a front axle from a Jeep J20 truck. I paid $600 for the axle from a Jeep-only junkyard, which is a little steep, but not terrible when thinking about the cost of the whole project, especially when you consider that it already had the 4.10 gears I needed.

The only thing that's somewhat rare is the driver's side drop housing. Everything else is standard D44 stuff.
