problems with right side cv shaft
This is on a 98 blazer that I just bought. I pulled the right side cv shaft out to put a new inner boot on. When i went to put it back in I noticed the the inner shaft was sticking out of the tube. It is sticking out by about an inch. I can easily turn it but it wont come all the way out or back in. I had this happen on my 99 but the inner shaft came all the way out with the cv shaft. It just popped back in though. I tried to force it back in with the cv but it didnt work. The cv would snap onto the inner shaft but the inner shaft wouldnt go in. Anyone else have this problem? Im not in a real big hurry to get it done as its my winter vehicle. I would like to get this done though within the next week.

OK here is my 2c. If that inner axle shaft (#2) comes out then its possible that washer (#10) has fallen down and is blocking the spot in gear (#23) that the axle shaft fits into. If this is what happened then you have to pull apart the housing where the cable goes in (#16) and get the washer back up then get the axle in place correctly and it will hold the washer in place. You might even have to pull back housing (#5) if you cannot get the washer up and the axle shaft in.

i thought that might be a possibility but why wont the shaft pull all the way out?

It could be caught on one of the washers im not sure why it wont come out.
