Rear Brakes Locking Up, ABS Light
Hello everyone, my rear brakes have been locking up for some time now. The truck has rear drum brakes. Although it doesn't happen all the time, it has gotten so bad that one day I was at a red light with someone in my truck, and when the light turned green and I accelerated, the rear brakes released, and my passenger thought I got rear-ended. Finally, a few days ago, my ABS light turned on for a few mins, and then shut off. I also noticed that my brake pedal goes down pretty far. I took it to my mechanic today to get it scanned for codes, and no codes are present. The ABS light has not turned on ever since then, but when I start it up in the morning, it is the light that stays on the longest out of all the lights on the dash, then goes off.
Several months ago, my ABS was constantly turning on everytime I stepped on the brake. I then had the front driver's side ABS sensor replaced and it went back to normal. Now I'm wondering if it might be the front passenger's side sensor, because I have never had it replaced. I was also thinking that it could be the Speed Sensor on the transfer case because my speedometer gauge doesn't start moving until I'm at about 5 or 10mph. I have searched on here, but have not been able to find any of the symptoms that I'm experiencing. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

sometimes the locking rear brakes can be due to a leaking axle seal making the pads all mushy. easy to check just see if theres fluid falling out of the back side of the drum

Ok, thanks for your response. I'll take a look tomorrow, but do you think that a leaking seal would also cause the ABS light to turn on?
