rear leaf spring replacement.Please HELP!!

Red face rear leaf spring replacement.Please HELP!!

So i got this 94 k1500 blazer, the full size aka clifford. Just bought it a couple months ago. first truck and second vehicle ive ever owned. I know absolutely nothing about mechanical work, just the basics. But i bought the truck to learn. I've watched all kinds of videos and got a repair manual, but none follow the exact same steps. So my problem, my driver side rear leaf spring is broke. not the overload spring on the bottom but the next one up, broke right in half. I also just found out i don't have a lift kit at all. just 2 turns on the torsion bar that the mechanic i bought it from did. So far, I've got it jacked up and the frame is resting on stands. I also have the jack under that big bell house in the back with about 2 pumps on it( thought i was taking tension off the springs). I've loosened the rear shackle to spring bolt and I've removed the nut for the front spring to hanger bolt. now this is where i get stuck. what do i do next? how do i get the front bolt out? the head of the bolt is to the center of the truck. can i beat it out or should i screw it out? also most how to's say to jack up back axle to relieve tension on springs. how high do i want to go and how do i know when all tension is off the springs? some clarification and step by step would be awsome. i dont know all the part names but i have access to a couple diagrams. so if you can keep the mechanical talk to its simplest form it will help. lol. sorry for my poor sentence structure. i just want to get this asking for help part over. little embarrassed too.

Sometimes getting those leaf spring bolts out can be a pita. You will probably have to resort to hitting them out, or at least start that way. As long as the diff is supported, that should be all that's needed.

I had had to use a cutoff wheel and cut the head off the bolt then drill all the rubber out around the bushing to get it apart

yeah especially if you live around where vehicles love to rust. i dont think ive ever taking springs off any of my old chevys without cutting them. just did rear shackles on a dodge durango the other day. by some maricle the top bolts came out, bottom ones i had to impact back and forth like crazy while heating them up til the bolt and sleeve fell out then air hammered the old bushing shell out and replaced the bushings and bolts.

but yeah it usually resorts to violence of some sort

the bolt head for the spring to hanger is kinda set inside on the hanger with fuel lines around it. i dont have a cutoff wheel. i was gonna try to buy and use a dremmel. im having a hard time picturing how you get a cutoff wheel in there to cut the head off. and you can cut the threads off of the outter side of the hanger and i could see using a air hammer there but that leaf spring was just taken off not to long ago my mechanic i bought the truck from replace the shackle. could i take it off at the hanger and work on it away from the truck

i use a 4 1/2 inch angle grinder with a cutting wheel on there to cut them bolts out of there. yeah those little cut off wheels are to small

so dont cut the actual head and nut off, take that cutting blade and cut right into the rubber, cut the rubber, sleeve. bolt and everything in between the hanger and spring itself that way it will fall out of the hanger and then yeah you can put it in a vise or on the floor to work on easier
