Rear wheel bearing replacement G 80
99 S10 Blazer 4 door with G-80 option "Gov-Lock"
Rear wheel bearing replacement
Started hearing noisy bearing
I let it go 2 weeks didn't have time to fix
the noise got worse
had to make time to fix it
the right rear bearing was shot
and had eaten away the axle shaft
so I replaced it with National - Wheel Repair Bearing
Part # RP5707
this moves the bearing 1/4" out on the shaft on a clean section of the shaft.
To remove
1. Pull Diff. cover
2. Remove beakes rotor & Brake Caliper & Bracket
3. remove the bolt that holds the spider gear's in place
4. Push the axle shaft in
5. Remove the "C" clips on the end of the axle shaft Diff. side
6. Pull Axle shaft
7. To make it EZ use a slide hammer bearing puller
(it took 3 slides of the slide hammer to remove the seal& bearing)
8. Drive in new bearing
and put it back together the way it came apart
New Diff. gasket and rearend grease don't forget the
Limited-Slip Axle Additive
(I had it apart so I replaced the left side also)
Hope I didn't miss anything it was a ez job to do
the slide hammer bearing puller is a must have!

Good... I've never been inside a G80 before, but I have a seal leaking on mine and probably a bad bearing causing it... Looks like it'll be an easy job. Did bearing on my '87 with the 14 bolt SF... Sounds like it's the same inside a 10...

i also changed a rear right bearing this summer, but i bougth the stock bearing and a used axle from the scrapyard. i heard to many horror story with the fix-it-bearing.
also, the g-80 diff is a locking differential, not a limited slip. dont use additive, there is no clutches in the differential.
