Default Rearend?

Well everyone I have a 96 4dr 4wd blazer and I know I blew my rearend for sure. But I have a question does anyone know the equipment code for the rearend gear ratio. I heard GU6 was 342 does anyone know for sure. ONE more question if i bought a rearend same gear ratio just going from drum brakes to disc breaks would I have to setup anything diffrently. Thanks for any kind of suggestions you may offer

I think you need some changes in the brake system. Drums use alot less fluid than discs. I cant remember if its just the proportioning valve that has to be messed with or if you need a master cylinder? hrmm

And yes the axle ratio codes are G _ _

Type in all your G _ _ rpo codes and see what ya got!

I went from drum to disc in my 96 blazer and didn't have to do anything.

I would venture a guess that your rear brakes are not doing what they are supposed to then. Brake calipers require more fluid to actuate them than drum wheel cylinders. As stated, the proportioning valve normally needs to be switched out.

When I was doing the swap I thought the prop. valve would need to be changed also. But my brakes feel great. They def. work better than when the rear was drums.

I've done rear drum to disc swaps on my old 91 firebird, 87 firebird, and 88 camaro. On those you HAD to change the prop. valve. I could instantly tell the brakes sucked when I tried driving it before the prop. valve swap. However, that wasn't the case with the blazer.
