Default Replaced Transfer case motor.. need help

I have a 2001 blazer ls. I just replaced the transfer case motor yesterday. I put everything back the way i took it out and now the 4wd service light is illuminated. The blazer stays in a neutral state shifting between all pnrdl gears. Need some suggestions please of a possible fix.

Are you sure you've got the t/c shaft fulling engaged in the encoder motor?

Motor should EASILY fit flush all the way around against the t/c surface. I know when I replaced mine I ended up taking the encoder apart to reposition the gear for the t/c because, and I'm just guessing,it was tested by just connecting it but not on the t/c which put the gear all the way to one side. If the gear and shaft aren't engaged there will be a small gap.
